Schmazz Pricing Policy
We have a 3-level price structure for entry to our gigs
This involves a degree of ‘self-assessment’. It’s not that we don’t need the money – Schmazz is heavily subsidised – but we don’t want to make it impossible for those on very low incomes to get to our gigs, and we will rely on those attending to pay what they can afford.
Full Price - (usually £7, but may on occasions be more) For those who are waged or on reasonably good incomes!
Concession – (usually £5.00) for pensioners, people on incapacity benefit or low earnings
Discount - (usually £3) – for students and those on means-tested benefits, e.g. income support or housing benefit
History and Ethos
Schmazz was set up by Keith Morris in 1999 ( click here to see what Keith said about Schmazz, and to read tributes to him)
Since 2003, when Keith decided to move on to other projects, a small group of people has been organising Schmazz gigs, and we try hard to stick to the good principles that he established.
All musicians are paid a proper minimum fee, well above MU minimum, get welcomed on arrival, and are fed and watered in the venue at the clubs expense.
As Keith said, this is basic civilised practice, not at all hard to do…….
